🔹 Google has revealed the distribution of its operating systems for the first month. Starting with the latest Android 8.0 Oreo, only 0.7% devices run on this operating system. Last month it was 0.5% hence there is a slight increase but it is still capped below 1%.

🔹 OnePlus fans have another reason to rejoice as the company is gearing up for the launch of its next flagship smartphone OnePlus 6. Pete Lau, chief executive of the Chinese manufacturer, has confirmed in an interview to CNET, that the company will bring the OnePlus 6 smartphone in June this year.

🔹 HMD has filed a trademark for ‘Asha’, strongly hinting the imminent revival of the Nokia Asha smartphones. The trademark can be seen on the EUIPO website and was filed back in 2011. However, the trademark filing was transferred to HMD on January 9 this year.

🔹 Chinese tech giant Huawei won a patent infringement lawsuit against South Korea smartphone rival Samsung today, according to information released by a Chinese court. The court ruled in the Chinese company’s favor over two patents involving fourth generation phone technology, according to a notice released through the court’s WeChat account and video of the trial.

🔹 Industry body COAI today said the proposal to extend payment period for spectrum to 16 years from the current 10 years will ease cash flows initially, but will not yield any tangible financial benefits for telecom companies.

🔹 We have already seen Xiaomi smartphones, Mi Mix 2, Mi 5 and Mi Max 2 supporting Quick Charging 3.0 tech. But the firm was only selling its standard 5V-2A charger in India. Now, Xiaomi has launched a Qualcomm certified Quick Charging 3.0 supporting adapter in the country. The announcement came from the firm’s EMUI forum post.

🔹 Even though many mid-range/budget smartphones come with high-end features, who says entry-level handsets are not selling? Xiaomi’s recently launched entry-level smartphone, Redmi 5A has sold over 1 million handsets in less than a month.

🔹 Chinese smartphone maker Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is all set to launch its second smartphone of the year in India soon. The company has revealed that it will launch its Honor 9 Lite smartphone in India later this month.
