Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) was set up in the year 1995.
Objectives :
Its objective is to give fund support to State Govts. and State Owned Corporations at low cost for quick completion of ongoing projects that are related to:
1) Medium and minor irrigation
2) Soil conservation
3) Rural infrastructure

4) Watershed Management
5) Flood protection
6) Forest development
7) Market yard/godown, apna mandi, rural haats and other marketing infrastructure.
Other activities that are also financed by the RIDF include Cold storage, Seed/agriculture/horticulture farms, plantation and horticulture, grading and certifying mechanisms such as testing and certifying laboratories, Fishing, Animal husbandry and abattoirs.
Budget 2015:
In the budget 2015, an amount of Rs 25,000 crore is sanctioned by the Union Finance Minister to be made available to the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.
