1934 – Great revolutionary Surya Sen of India’s freedom struggle was hanged in Chittagong. He founded the Indian Republican Army and successfully led the Chittagong revolt.

2010- The Department of Hippestone Enforcement Act 1982 was added to the death penalty in the wake of the Indian government’s fear of terrorist attacks on the Civil Aviation Sector.
* The death of millions of people and the capital Port of the Prince became devastated in the terrible earthquake that hit the Caribbean country.
2015 – 143 militants of Boko Haram militant outfit have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Cameroon.

1708 – शाहू जी को मराठा शासक का ताज पहनाया गया।
1757 – ब्रिटेन ने पश्चिम बंगाल के बंदेल प्रांत को पुर्तग़ाल से अपने कब्जे में लिया।
1866 – लंदन में रॉयल एयरोनॉटिकल सोसायटी का गठन हुआ।
1924- गोपीनाथ साहा ने कोलकाता के पुलिस आयुक्त चार्ल्स ऑगस्टस टेगार्ट समझकर ग़लती से एक आदमी की हत्या कर दी। इसके बाद उसे गिरफ़्तार कर लिया गया।
1934 – भारत के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के महान् क्रान्तिकारी सूर्य सेन को चटगांव में फाँसी दी गयी। उन्होने इंडियन रिपब्लिकन आर्मी की स्थापना की और चटगांव विद्रोह का सफल नेतृत्व किया।
1950- स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद 12 जनवरी 1950 में ‘संयुक्त प्रांत’ का नाम बदल कर ‘उत्तर प्रदेश’ रखा
1984 – स्वामी विवेकानंद के जन्मदिन के मौके पर हर वर्ष देश में ‘राष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस’ मनाने की घाेषणा की गयी।
1991 – अमरीकी संसद ने कुवैत में इराक के खिलाफ सैनिक कार्रवाई काे मंजूरी दी।
2001 – भारत का इंडोनेशिया-रूस-चीन संधि से इंकार, नैफ नदी पर बांध निर्माण योजना के कारण बांग्लादेश-म्यांमार सीमा पर तनाव के बाद सेनाएँ तैनात।
2002 – पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ़ ने राष्ट्र के नाम ऐतिहासिक संदेश प्रसारित किया, पाकिस्तान ने आतंकवादी संगठन लश्कर व जैश पर प्रतिबंध लागू करने की घोषणा की जबकि वांछित पाक अपराधियों को भारत को सौंपने से इन्कार किया।
2003 – भारतीय मूल की महिला लिंडा बाबूलाल त्रिनिदाद की संसद अध्यक्ष बनीं।
2004 – दुनिया के सबसे बड़े समुद्री जहाज, आरएमएस क्वीन मैरी 2 ने अपनी पहली यात्रा की शुरूआत की।
2006 – भारत और चीन ने हाइड्रोकार्बन पर एक महत्त्वपूर्ण सहमति पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
2007 – ‘रंग दे बसन्ती’ बाफ़्टा के लिए नामांकित।
2008-
* कोलकाता में आग से 2500 दुकानें जल कर खाक हुई।
* दुनिया के सबसे बड़े फ़िल्म शो टोरंटो अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फ़िल्म महोत्सव की बुनियाद रखने वाले ‘मुर्रे दस्ती कोहल’ का निधन।
2009- प्रसिद्ध संगीतकार ए. आर. रहमान प्रतिष्ठित गोल्डन ग्लोब अवार्ड जीतने वाले पहले भारतीय बने। इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के वैज्ञानिक डॉ. जयन्त कुमार ने दुनिया का सबसे पुराना उल्का पिंड क्रेटर खोजा।
2010- भारत सरकार द्वारा नागर विमानन क्षेत्र पर आतंकी हमलो की आशंका के बीच विमान अपहरण रोधी क़ानून 1982 में मौत की सज़ा की धारा जोड़ी गई।
* कैरेबियाई देश हैती में आए भयंकर भूकंप में लाखों लोगों की मौत और राजधानी पोर्ट ओ प्रिंस का अधिकतर हिस्सा तबाह हो गया।
2015 – कैमरून में सुरक्षा बलों के साथ मुठभेड में आतंकवादी संगठन बोको हराम के 143 आतंकवादी मारे गये।
